Inclusive, progressive coaching
A CLASS FOR EVERY STAGE
HBS Sports Centre hosts a children’s session followed by training for teenagers and adults. Kids learn balance, safe falling and controlled self-defence concepts in an active setting. Teenagers progress into more demanding technical work, while adults can build fitness and practical ability at their own pace. Women and men train together and are encouraged to understand how leverage, timing and positioning compensate for differences in strength. Hitchin students can begin with no previous martial-arts experience and continue through a structured belt pathway.

Why martial arts?
CONFIDENCE THROUGH SKILL
Training locally makes it easier for Hitchin students to build consistency, and consistency turns isolated techniques into reliable skill. Ju-Jitsu improves balance, mobility, coordination and stamina through purposeful movement. It also develops concentration: students must observe detail, practise safely and adjust when a partner changes position. The club environment provides social connection without losing individual goals. Children gain confidence and boundaries, teenagers gain responsibility, and adults gain a challenging weekly practice that supports both physical wellbeing and calmer decision-making under pressure.
