Gradings

The system of progressing through the various Jujitsu belts is the basis of the grading process.

These belts provide milestones that students can use to quantify their progress as they work towards mastering the art.

Students that spend more time training and honing their skills will be rewarded with a faster progression through the Jujitsu belts.

NVQ City & Guilds

All the principal instructors in the club are NVQ certified.

For your total peace of mind, all instructors are also required to undergo a St John Ambulance First Aid Course every three years.

We are also a member of MASA, The Martial Arts Standards Agency.

This is your assurance of a professional and safe training environment.

Private Tuition

Learn jujitsu and self-defence from globally renowned 8th Dan black belt Kyoshi Steve McDade

Private classes are available at private venues and are available to Total Self Defence members, corporate clients, and the general public.

The basic cost works out at £45/hour/person.

The classes are suitable for men, women of all ages  and kids.

MASA is one of the main authorities in the Martial Arts structured as a non-profit making company limited by guarantee with no paid employees and no expenses paid to its directors.

First Aid Training

jiu-jitsu training gives you the confidence and structure to build up your self-esteem.

All Total Self Defence instructors and assistant instructors must complete a first aid course every 3 years.

The course covers all basic first aid and is a save a life course. Completing a first aid course is also a requirement for NVQ (City & Guilds)NVQ City & Guilds qualification in Coaching Teaching and Instructing Jujitsu.
